How is ignition status determined by the GO device?

  • GO device

Answer

Vehicle ignition status is detected by the device by one of the following three methods:

Engine Based
The device first needs to wake up by detecting voltage spikes or accelerometer based movement, then it uses RPM or Engine Road Speed to determine ignition status.

Three Wire
The device is connected via the three wire harness (power, ground, ignition state). The harness' ignition connection is responsible for setting the ignition state.

Trip Tracking/Two Wire
If the device does not get engine data or is not connected to a three wire harness, then it will attempt to determine ignition based on a logic called Trip Tracking. Alternatively (with a custom parameter) the device can use "Two-Wire logic", which relies on analyzing voltage fluctuations to infer ignition.
