2019 GMs are not properly detecting engine data

Symptoms

  • Multiple false stops are showing within the vehicle's trip history.
  • Vehicle is showing abnormal stops

Cause

A potential cause for this issue is these 2019 GMs have a gateway with a single node CAN network. When nobody acks these CAN messages, the data is very sporadic and is not reliable. And when we detect GMLAN, we go into listen only mode.

Resolution

Fix will be to remove the listen only portion of our device when we detect GMLAN. We will still limit our requests and stop requesting anything once we detect a scantool/onstar but will remain in normal mode to ack messages. Fix is available on FW 25.28 (Future Release Patch V2).
