Why is there a discrepancy in violations shown on the DOT Officer's portal vs Geotab Drive and MyGeotab when transferring the driver's logs?

Applies To

  • Hours of Service (HOS)
  • Geotab Drive
  • MyGeotab
  • Duty Status Logs Transfer
  • HOS Violations

Answer

When transferring duty status logs, Geotab does not transfer the violations only the duty status logs. The FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier and Safety Administration) calculates the violations on their end.

If a driver has a dispute of an incorrect violation on the DOT (Department of Transportation) officer's end that does not appear within the Geotab system, the driver should be able to explain why they are using a ruleset that allows them to not have taken a 30 minute break, for example.

If the violation is incorrect on our end and accurate on the DOT officer's end, please contact Geotab Support for further assistance.
