How does G07 determine and report unplug event?

0

Hi,

New user testing out a couple of devices for a fleet client. Can you tell me how the device determines if it has been unplugged? I assume it is just noticing a sudden loss of voltage/power rather than a gradual decline in voltage based on the vehicle battery performance.

Does the G07 have an onboard battery such that it can communicate via cellular back to Geotab that an unplug event has occured?

Thanks,

Craig

Hello Craig,

Thank you for your interest in Geotab's products.

In order to determine if a device was unplugged the GO device will report the following diagnostics via Engine and Measurements:

-Telematics device fault: low voltage in power supply (bad battery or reinstall required) - device restarted (type: Telematics Device; code: 131)
-Telematics device fault: low voltage in power supply (bad battery or reinstall required) - device restarted (type: Telematics Device; code: 290)
-Telematics device fault: all power removed - device restarted (type: Telematics Device; code: 130; controller: Telematics Device)
-Telematics device fault: telematics device has been unplugged

These logs will be created when we detect a power state change from 1 to 0 and 0 to 1. Unfortunately it does not have an onboard battery to continue communicating to our servers to instantly tell if a devices lost power coming in through the OBD port or the Harness.
