Have you tried to disable and re-enable the Checkmate service on the machine itself? (In Checkmate 5.6 --> Administration --> System --> Keys and RF --> PC USB Downloader). Does the PC USB downloader still not get detected?

Are you running a Windows XP environment? If so, you may have to restart the entire system for the USB Downloader to get detected properly.

Try the above and if this does not fix the issue please contact Geosupport (via your reseller) and we can look into this further.

The key reader is now being detected. But when i try to read key info or assign a key i am getting an oops window with the following error. EX0C5A6417: Unable to load type Geotab. Checkmate. Objectmodel.KeyType required for deserialization.

Can you try the following:

1) Close Checkmate and any ClickOnce windows you have open.

2) Go to the "Services" menu in windows and Stop any Services that are Geotab or Checkmate related.

3) Log into Checkmate and start the service manually (In Checkmate 5.6 --> Administration --> System --> Keys and RF --> PC USB Downloader).

4) Try performing a "Read Key" again.

Let us know if there are any further issues.

i have tried the above and still get the same error.

Key reader will only be detected in web version when I enable it on old checkmate version 5.3.1.

Key reader works perfectly in version 5.3.1 when assigning key, but gives me oops error from previous comment on web version when I try and do the same.

When I disable key reader on checkmate 5.3.1, then key reader does not get detected on web version.

It appears we will have to do some further troubleshooting and look at the actual error you are receiving. If you are an End User of Checkmate please reach out to your reseller/Geotab dealer and if they cannot assist they will loop in Geotab Support for further assistance.
