Enter/Exit or Inside/Outside Events

0

Looking for advice on how to handle the example below:

We have multiple team that have a list a customers they go to each day. We've setup zones for each customer and entry/exit events for when the team breaks the zone. The issue we are seeing is when a team passes one of the customer zone while heading to one of the other customers. When this happens the events are triggered and exceptions is kick prematurely.

We tried adding a five minute duration to the entry event to make sure the team was within the zone for 5 minutes before triggering the enter

Hi Ben,

Entering and Exiting are instantaneous events, so the rule will never break if a duration is added. If you would like to use Entering/Exiting, you will need to make sure that each zone is an appropriate shape to avoid false exceptions. This means that the zone must not overlap any adjacent streets.

One alternative is to use a combination of Inside Customer Zone and Device Stopped. This will generate an exception when the vehicle comes to a full stop within a customer zone. Your suggestion of Inside Customer Zone with a minimum duration would also work.

If an instant notification is not desired, the Customer Visits Report provides a list of each vehicle's stops within customer zones. This report includes arrival time, departure time, and stop duration. Reports can be scheduled to automatically email a specific person, or group of people, as frequently as every thirty minutes.

Please feel free to contact your Geotab reseller for further information, or assistance with creating custom rules.

Regards,
Ethan

Hi ben

We're trying to get this information with a rule that will be break when the vehicle is stopped more than 5m in one zone but the notification is sent when the vehicle leave the zone?

It's our rule:

DurationLongerThan[time=5m](
 And(
 IsValueLessThan[value=0](
                                           IsDriving
                                        ) ,
 InsideArea[zone=b77F58]
)
)

What's wrong?

We tried this option as well, with the same result.

And(
DurationLongerThan[time=5m](
Stop
),
InsideArea[zone=b2B13AD]
)
