Recording Stop Exceptions

0

We are trying to monitor our trucks if they stop at Stop signs and at load check areas.  Using a geofence we are getting false positives as a result of the trucks going by the stop in the other direction.  The same condition applies top the load check area.

Please provide some help on this.  This is a significant safety issue that we must monitor and need addressed.

Thanks

I believe I just answered this question for your company on request by Angie Milne at Geotab.  Based on that email thread which was more clear:

To use Geotab tools you could create a buffer zone with a zone entry rule just before your target zone leading up to the intersection.  Then create your target zone on the side street just before the main intersection (after the buffer zone) and use a inside zone stop or inside zone and speed 0.  Then in your exception reporting look for a combination of the buffer zone entry then target zone stop.  You will need to create that report you are looking for with the base exceptions report with some logic.

If that does not work you can have a custom addin created to do all of this for you for development fees.

Hi Steve,

To add to Michael Head's point, one alternative is to use a combination of Inside Zone and Device Stopped. This will generate an exception when the vehicle comes to a full stop within the zone.

Also a rule with the logic: Inside Zone with a minimum duration would also work.

Yes Aarthi that could work. As it was explained to me if this is the same customer, for some reason the trucks were shown stopping in this area on the return trip which is what they did not want either. Maybe they had the zones drawn too big or the truck took wide turns and had to stop for some reason like to get cars to move.

Either way I think knowing more about the situations at hand here you can definitely use some tools within Geotab to get the job done.

Maybe some quick trials would be good for them to get it the way they want it.

I would like to try some trials.  I have made a couple stabs at this and am not havong any luck.  I really would like to flag the vehicles that break the rule, i.e. fail to stop.

I can send you what I have done.
