Bringing GPS data service as a REST service into ESRI maps

0

Do you have an example for bringing GPS data service as a REST service into ESRI maps. We want to overlay the GPS location of vehicles onto the maps as a map service layer onto these types maps http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Demographics

I looked through the SDK and may have missed it. Could you tell me the best way to do this if you have any examples.

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have an ArcGIS REST API endpoint. What we can do with ArcGIS is bring in data from a REST service into our maps page on MyGeotab.

There are 2 alternate ways to go around this:

  1. Export your data as an ArcGIS REST service, and use the custom web maps portion of MyGeotab (found under Administration > System... > System Settings in the Map tab) to show your data on MyGeotab as a custom base layer
  2. Write an SDK feed (from examples) that pulls GPS data, and puts that data into your ArcGIS system

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Aaron

What example would you suggest to put a feed of GPS data on an ArcGIS map?

The .NET example "DataFeed" shows how to get bulk data on a regular basis.

I'm not sure of how to get the data from there into an ArcGIS map, that part is not covered by our SDK. You would likely have to have an ArcGIS server running, and import data into that every time you call our "GetFeed" method through ESRI's own APIs.

I noticed showTrips.html of the JS examples does not work.  The others appear to work fine.

I keep seeing this type of error in SDK JSONRPCerror
