user already exists

I went to add a user. I first searched to make sure the user did not exist in our data base. he could not be found. Once I added him and hit save, it come up that the user already exists. The name is Roger Zarek. Can you please help?

Hi Honey,

There are a couple of reasons of why you would get this error under normal circumstances:

  1. If you do not have access to the Company Group level then the user could exist outside of your users scope
  2. The user could have been made historical. To check for this please click on the "Show Historical" button:

This has now happened 3 times to my customers.  The 2 reasons listed below which are Company Group level or possible making the person historical had nothing to do in our case.  The person simply disappeared from the user list.  The first time, support game to the user ID so I was able to get the the personal and delete them then re-add them. 

The next couple times, I clicked on one listed user and found there user ID and associated URL.  For example, https://my410.geotab.com/databasename#user,id:b18.  I then tried b17 then b16 then b15 and so on until I got really lucky and found the user that wasn't listed.  I then deleted the user and then re-added the user and then it was fine.  Why the person disappeared in the first place was a mystery.
